Challenge time: 01 - Red, version 2

I've finally found the time to do version number 2 for the colour red.

You can't go wrong with a classic red on your nails! The polish used is OPI's Thanks So Muchness of which I applied 2 coats. For a little bling, I added some square rhinestones. It will be interesting to see how long those hold up.

Next on the schedule is the colour orange. I must admit, I don't have many ideas yet. We'll see how that one goes!

Challenge time: 01 - Red, version 1

So, let's get started with the first challenge post. The first theme is Red. I'm quite fond of the colour red, especially the dark, blueish tones.

When combining red with cupcakes, I had but one idea: red velvet cupcakes!

This is my third attempt at a red velvet recipe. The ones before turned brown due to the baking - the food dye wouldn't hold up to the heat. This time I actually managed! YAY! Unfortunately, the taste was just blah. Oh well. The frosting is made of melted marshmallows and sugar and stayed quite fluffy. But taste-wise, not my best either.

As you can see in the title, there's another version in the making, so check back soon.

Stitching in colour: Shopping bag

Introducing a new interest of mine: Sewing. My grandmother was a seamstress, though I never got the chance to learn anything from her due to her very early death. Nevertheless, my mum believes I've inherited some of her talents. I hope she's right.

This shopping bag was made during a patchwork vacation. The pattern was not my invention, so I only take credit for the execution.

Detail of the quilting:

When I saw that pink flower fabric, I knew it was love. What about you?

Challenge time: My take on the 31 day challenge

In order to get things moving on this blog again, I decided to take on the oh so famous 31 day challenge. But I've got to do it my way:

1 - I won't restrict myself to nail designs. So you will probably see eye looks, cupcakes and other creative interpretations of the various themes as well.
2 - Because of point 1, I won't be able to post each day. Some things need more preparation and time to finish. Or someone to eat the results and that's not going to be just me all the time! Besides, if I had to post each day, I'd probably not even start. That's way too much pressure on my schedule.

Here's the list:

Day 1-10: COLOUR

Black & White

Day 11-20: PATTERN

Polka dots
Animal print
Delicate print
Tribal print
Half moon
(Water) Marble

Day 21-30: Inspiration

Day 31: Recreate your favourite challenge.

Some themes are more challenging than others - I'm looking at you, tribal print - and some have me exploding with ideas. Maybe I'll do several versions for a few...

I'm excited already, I hope you'll follow me on this ride.

Trying to revive the blog

2011 was extremely busy with work and business trips. 2012 was even worse. Unfortunately, this blog was left to itself during this time. Let's hope 2013 will give me the chance to start anew.
